Our living room was one of my least favorite rooms in the house, when we moved into our new home. Mostly the carpet, it was pretty stained. So we decided to take our tax money this year and buy new flooring and a new couch (we have always been given our furniture). In March we went to Lumber liquidators and bought flooring. While John was at work I pulled up the carpet, and low and behold we had a hardwood floor. It needed some work, it had been painted on and it had plywood nailed and glued to it in places. After some sanding and staining and too many layers of polyurethane it was beautiful. We saved so much money on the flooring we were able to finish the whole room.
So here is the the before and afters. I'm a bad photographer, and did not take any before photos so here are a collection of photos from the last two years in the room. I tried to find every angle!
We did not do this alone my friend Mary helped so so so much from painting, Prying up floors, decorating, showing up with too many "free" things that matched my accent color and furniture shopping (our couch is from Max Pies and they were great). Her Mom even bought me pillows aren't they perfect !(Thank you June) I am so grateful for all her help, Mary you are amazing! My Parents built the amazing shelving insert for my fireplace, helped pry the old rocks, paint molding, and not to mention let us stay with them for a week while the flooring aired out. I would not have been able to do it with out them! Thank you so so much! I feel very loved and I love the our new room!
We have a few finishing touches, but if i didn't post this now I never would have. I will have to do another post soon!
